Participatory Workshop at EHF: Economics of Environmental and Climate Action in the Face of the Humanitarian Impacts of Climate Change

Monday, May 19, 2025: 16:45 – 18:00 CEST

This workshop is being held in-person at the European Humanitarian Forum in Brussels.

This session will bring together humanitarian organisations and donors: signatories to both the Climate and Environment Charter for Humanitarian Organizations and to the Donor Declaration on Climate and Environment. The financial viability and sustainability of this agenda in the current unstable and changing financial context is a key issue to tackle.

Through this participatory workshop, participants will dive into

  • Progress made so far by both signatories to the Donor Declaration and the Charter and what is still needed to achieve commitments,
  • The economics of investing in prevention, preparedness and reducing organizations’ environment footprint, as well as new sources of funding for these actions
  • Environmental and resilience-building actions in humanitarian contexts.

This event will be for in-person attendance only. The organisers will disseminate a summary after the meeting.

Please Note: Although the workshop is currently listed as oversubscribed on the EHF website, this was to gauge initial interest in the various sessions. In reality, participation in the room will be on a first-come first-serve basis on the day, so we strongly advise that Signatories/Supporters of the Charter and Donor Declaration arrive slightly in advance.
